The Walls Group recently held an album release concert that secured their spot as one of Houston’s top gospel groups. The eldest member of the group, Darrel, tells MyHoustonGOSPEL.com some of his little known facts in this month’s 10 Questions.

Where were you born? Houston, TX.

What are your favorite songs (of any genre)? List goes on for days!! lol


Vanilla or Chocolate? Most Definitely Vanilla


Do you like sports? If so, who is your favorite team? Yessir, basketball and my favorite team is the Celtics.


What is your favorite color? Shades of blue.


If you could get away for a month where would you go on vacation?
Paris, I’ve always wanted to go there….”SOON AND BERY SOON LAWD.”


Are you a good cook? If so, what’s your favorite dish?
OH, MOST DEF! Smothered pork chops with gravy. Rice, cornbread, cabbage and greens. YES LAWD! LOL


If you were not doing music what job could you see yourself doing? O_o lol An electrician maybe.


Do you like to shop? If so, where is your favorite place to shop? No SIR!! LOL I only go when I need to, either before a show or if I have something important to do.


What are your “words to live by? Stay Holy and Always trust God. Put him first in everything you do.

Nakitta Foxx is one of Houston’s gems in gospel music. Watching her during praise & worship at The Fountain of Praise Church, you may never know that she is an avid sports fan or her favorite food. Well, here is your chance to get to know her in this week’s Ten Questions.

1. What do you do during your free time? Get as much rest as I can get.

2. Dream Duet Partner Jonathan Butler.

3. What artist would fans be surprised to see on your ipod? Sting. I’m a huge fan.

4. Are you training your daughter to sing? Yes, definitely.

5. How did you become a fan of Ella Fitzgerald? I was on my way to a gig with Kurt Carr and he was playing one of her records. I was impressed and he told me that I needed to study her. So I went to Borders and bought everything Ella. I immediately became a big fan, she is what I call a freak of nature. lol

6. Do you like sports? If so, what’s your favorite team? I’m a big sports fan, basketball Lakers, football Cowboys.

7. Are you a good cook? If so, what’s your favorite dish? Yes I am a good cook; I make a really good roast!

8. Do you like to shop? If so, where is your favorite place to shop? Yes, I love to shop. My favorite store is Target (the red dot boutique).

9. What words do you live by? Jeremiah 29:11.

10. American idol or X-Factor? The Voice.  lol

Earnest Lofton is a respected director in Houston gospel music. He is currently the Minister of Music at Lilly Grove Baptist Church. Let’s learn more about him with this week’s 10 Questions.

  1. Where were you born?  Houston.
  2. What are your favorite songs (of any genre)? I like several different genres of music.  I enjoy most of the 1960s R & B Motown artists, Disco 1970s music, Marching bands, concert music, and many, many gifted religious artists.  I also enjoy music that is not traditional to my upbringing like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
  3. Vanilla or Chocolate? Vanilla.
  4. Do you like sports? If so, who is your favorite team? I love  sports. I am an avid football and basketball fan.  I love high school, college, and pro-football, and love college basketball and have been a season ticket holder to University of Houston’s basketball team for many years.  I follow the Texans, Rockets, Cy Fair ISD, and the University of Houston’s football and basketball teams.
  5. What is your favorite color?  Black. . You can match it with almost anything!
  6. If you could get away for a month where would you go on vacation? Hawaii, England, France or the Bahamas.
  7. Are you a good cook? If so, what’s your favorite dish?  No, not a CONFIDENT cook, just well enough to not starve!  I love seafood and spaghetti.
  8. If you were not doing music what job could you see yourself doing?  I worked in Oil & Gas Accounting for 21 years for Texaco and LOVED it.  When Texaco was purchased by Chevron, I was serving as Payroll Tax Manager for a Texaco Joint Venture Company!
  9. Do you like to shop? If so, where is your favorite place to shop?  I like to look good, but I’m not a REGULAR shopper. . Other than grocery shopping, I shop about 2 -3 times per year and I want thing to be on sale when I buy!  Favorite day to shop is the day schools resume after Christmas break – Dilliard and Macy’s for casual wear since there is no Foley’s.  LOL!
  10. What are your “words to live by?”  I have many, but I love “I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread.”  Psalms 1 is also a favorite.

  2. What are your favorite songs (of any genre)? As (Stevie Wonder), A Song For You (Donnie Hathaway), No Weapon (Fred Hammond), Never Shall Forget (John P Kee) and Hero (Kirk Franklin).
  3. Vanilla or Chocolate? Chocolate
  4. Do you like sports? Yes. I love to play basketball.
  5. What is your favorite color? Green
  6. If you could get away for a month where would you go on vacation? Hawaii.
  7. Are you a good cook? If so, what’s your favorite dish? I’m pretty good cook. My favorite dish is greens.
  8. If you were not doing music what job could you see yourself doing? Teacher
  9. Do you like to shop? If so, where is your favorite place to shop? Tumi
  10. What are your “words to live by? “Just Love.”

Damian Price is a well-known musician and composer in Houston, TX and has worked with GMWA, Houston Mass Choir and Chester D.T. Bladwin and the Texas Mass Choir to name a few. We checked in with him recently and asked him 10 Questions. 

  1.  Where were you born? Houston, TX
  2. What are your favorite songs (of any genre)? OLD Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar, Jesus I Love You.  It has been a song of comfort for me in the last months. 
  3. Vanilla or Chocolate? Chocolate
  4. Do you like sports? If so, who is your favorite team? Football.  Greenbay!
  5. What is your favorite color?  Black
  6. If you could get away for a month where would you go on vacation?  Cancun, Mexico
  7. Are you a good cook? If so, what’s your favorite dish? Yes, I am a great cook.  My favorite dish to cook for myself is fried chicken.  What I am asked to cook most for others is peach cobbler.
  8. If you were not doing music what job could you see yourself doing? I would love to work for the FBI.  Something like a Criminal Minds. 
  9. Do you like to shop? If so, where is your favorite place to shop? I love to shop.  My favorite store in Houston is Express Men and when in NY is H & M!
  10. What are your “words to live by?”  Ignorance will always have a voice, will you always lend it an ear?  And, Every action doesn’t deserve a response.
