St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church is celebrating Pastor Timothy W. Sloan’s 10th Anniversary in May. Kathy Taylor will be featured on May 11 and Kim Burrell will be featured on May 18th, both at 7pm. The celebration completes on May 20th with Shawn McClemore at the 8am and 10am services. All services will be held at The Luke 2380 S. Houston Ave, Humble, TX 77396. There is no admission cost.

Kim Burrell is recording a Whitney Houston tribute project, says Krishnar Lewis, Burrell’s manager.

The Grammy Award winning producer Mano Hanes is set to work on the project with Burrell.  The Whitney Houston Commemorative Project is being recorded in L.A. next week.

 The 43rd Annual Gospel Music Association Dove Awards nominees were announced this week. A few Houston natives found themselves on the list.

Urban Recorded Song of the Year-Sweeter, The Love Album, Kim Burrell

Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year-Rehab: The Overdose, LeCrae, Reach Records

Rap/Hip Hop Recorded Song of the Year-Hallelujah, LeCrae, Reach Records. He is also nominated in this category for The Overdose Rehab Deluxe.

Kirk Franklin and Ricky Dillard also were nominated for awards. Both artists are backed by Houston natives such as: Nikki Ross, Gene Moore Jr., & Carnel Davis Jr.

The Dove Awards will be held April 19 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA.
