Yolanda Adams is returning to judge BET’s Sunday Best gospel talent competition this year, along with Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin and panel newcomer CeCe Winans. Mary Mary will not be returning. They have a new reality show debuting on WEtv this year.
The winner of the BET gospel talent competition, Sunday Best is Amber Bullock. The St. Louis-born vocalist’s performance of “For Every Mountain” on the previous show turned the competition around and secured her spot as the top pick. The winner was determined by text messaging, call-in and online voting.
There were performances by Houston natives Yolanda Adams, who served as a judge on the show last season and Lecrae. The show also featured performances by Shirley Caesar, Rance Allen and LeAndria Johnson.
Bullock wins a 2012 Ford Explorer and an exclusive recording contract with Matthew Knowles’ Music World Gospel.
In earlier reports, show mentor Kim Burrell confirmed that Sunday Best will be returning for another season on BET.
Good news for BET’s hit gospel talent show Sunday Best. Kim Burrell has confirmed with Houston’s Praise 92.1 that the show is coming back for a fifth season. There has been backlash from fans lately due to non-gospel performances and voting off of crowd favorites (Mama Sue & Michael Pugh). Hopefully, next season will include audience voting and a straight-gospel reperitoire.
I am sure there are enough gospel songs to go around for a 5-episode talent show. Condescending..Shade
Mentor for BET Sunday Best Season 4, Kim Burrell opens up about the show’s contestants and what she expects from the next winner of the gospel talent competition.
