The Walls Group sings Kirk Franklin’s “Appeal”

The Walls Group recently held an album release concert that secured their spot as one of Houston’s top gospel groups. The eldest member of the group, Darrel, tells MyHoustonGOSPEL.com some of his little known facts in this month’s 10 Questions.

Where were you born? Houston, TX.

What are your favorite songs (of any genre)? List goes on for days!! lol

Vanilla or Chocolate? Most Definitely Vanilla

Do you like sports? If so, who is your favorite team? Yessir, basketball and my favorite team is the Celtics.

What is your favorite color? Shades of blue.

If you could get away for a month where would you go on vacation? Paris, I’ve always wanted to go there….”SOON AND BERY SOON LAWD.”

Are you a good cook? If so, what’s your favorite dish? OH, MOST DEF! Smothered pork chops with gravy. Rice, cornbread, cabbage and greens. YES LAWD! LOL

If you were not doing music what job could you see yourself doing? O_o lol An electrician maybe.

Do you like to shop? If so, where is your favorite place to shop? No SIR!! LOL I only go when I need to, either before a show or if I have something important to do.

What are your “words to live by? Stay Holy and Always trust God. Put him first in everything you do.

The highly anticipated album release concert of the Walls Group was this weekend. They were joined by Daniel Johnson, Nikki Ross, Nakitta Foxx, Preashea Hilliard, Kim Burrell, Chad Brawley and Kierra Sheard in a high octane concert. The Walls Group is celebrating their album release with special guests: Kierra Sheard, Daniel Johnson, Preashea Hilliard, Nakitta Foxx, Meaghan Williams, Nikki Ross, and Chad Brawley. The event will be held Dec. 10, 2011 6pm at Greater Grace Outreach Church 10800 Scott St. Houston, TX. Admission is free.

The Walls Group has been getting millions of views online singing some of gospel’s greatest hits. Their cover of the Clark Sisters’ Blessed & Highly Favored now has over 300,000 views on YouTube and their other videos have tens of thousands of views.

The popular group is now taking on the music scene themselves with their single Mighty You Are. The song capitalizes on their ability to sing in perfect harmony, something that can be realized in a special way when singing with family (Ex. Clark Sisters, Winans).  The song is produced by Levi “Too” King for Me Too Music and written by Alicia M. Walls.

Darrel, Rhea, Paco, and Ahjah are all young, fresh singers that need the support of the industry so we can secure a legacy for our next generation of great gospel singers.

I remember seeing them at more than one event in Houston when the sound system went haywire, they were able to sing acapella and the crowd went into praise and worship each time. They also have a supportive family, you will see parents Roger and Alicia Walls at their events making sure they are being treated fairly.
