Kim Burrell joined Vanessa Bell Armstrong, one of her musical influences, for a performance of “Nobody But Jesus” at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston during a celebration of Pastor Marcus D. Cosby’s 22nd anniversary.
The video, shared on MyHoustonGOSPEL.com’s YouTube channel, captures Armstrong holding the microphone as Burrell sings beside her. The two embrace while performing behind the church pulpit.
“Nobody But Jesus” is part of Armstrong’s early recording catalog, appearing on her 1984 album “Chosen,” produced by Thomas Whitfield. The performance brings Houston native Burrell together with an artist who helped shape her musical development.
