Cynthia Tucker Returns ‘Defiant’ With a Message of Faith and Hope, Oct. 24, 25

One of the most riveting plays to hit the stage is on its way back to Houston, featuring Brian Angel of P. Diddy’s hit MTV series, “Making the Band.” The Cynthia Tucker Production, Defiant, makes its way to The Stafford Civic Center, Friday, Oct. 24, 8:00pm and Saturday, Oct. 25 with two shows, 2:00pm and 8:00pm.

Defiant seeks to educate, enlighten and change the lives of viewers. With religion playing a large part in the culture of families across the country, this play addresses how the church can play a part in overcoming struggles when faith is hard to retain during hard times. In the production, issues that many families deal with begins to rear its ugly head, unemployment, problems with the child and a health issue that affects 29.1 million people–9.3% of the U.S. population, diabetes. It is not only full of drama, but also features music from great R&B and gospel artists and will keep the viewer laughing.

Defiant’s director, Cynthia Tucker, follows the lead of superstar producer and director Tyler Perry, working triple duty as the lead female actress, writer and director of the captivating show. Texas native, Kalan Laws’ compassionate role is honed from his experience in the arts, bringing his character to life on stage in a rousing performance. Tobe Nwigwe’s performance adds the comedic relief needed to provide a well balanced show, inspiring, informative, but also entertaining. Michelle Davis’ performance provides the maturity to the show that will immediately connect her character to someone in everyone’s family.
