Houston artists made a big splash at this year’s BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards held at Flourish in Atlanta, GA on March 28. Winners include: “You’ve Been Good to Me” which was written by Zacardi Cortez, Kerry Douglas, Tyrell Tyrone Belle, and Morgan Turner. Pastor Mike Jr’s “Impossible” is also listed under Kerry Douglas’ publishing company. Houston-based gospel artists Percy Bady and Lucius Hoskins were awarded for penning the single, “Still Gon’ Trust,” led by gospel artist Joshua Rogers. During the ceremony, Kim Burrell and Darrell Walls also performed.
BMI saluted the Top 25 most-performed gospel songs of 2023 and awarded BMI Gospel Song of the Year award to “Kingdom,” which was written by Kirk Franklin, Jonathan Jay, Chandler Moore, and Jacob Poole.
