Houston Gospel Announcers Guild/KTSU Hosts Gospel Industry Forum , Apr. 18

Houston Gospel Announcers Guild (HGAG) in conjunction with KTSU 90.9 FM will host its 2nd Gospel Music Industry Forum.  The event will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2015 – 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., on the campus of Texas Southern University in the TSU School of Education building (adjacent to Sawyer Auditorium – Hannah Hall).

The forum is an annual initiative organized by HGAG members and President, Catherine Dorsey. Its mission is to provide independent and unsigned artists resources, information and networking opportunities with national gospel music industry professionals.

This year’s event will welcome special gospel industry panelist Vicki Mack Lataillade, founder of GospoCentric Records (where Grammy award winning gospel superstar, Kirk Franklin got his start). Currently, she is the majority owner of Central South Distribution and Lilly Mack Publishing in Nashville, TN.

A wealth of invaluable information will be disseminated during the 6 hour forum to help artists navigate their music careers.  Topics to be covered include:

  • Viral/Digital Marketing
  • How to Survive in Today’s Music Business
  • Distribution
  • Radio Marketing and Promotion
  • Legal Issues
  • Building Wealth with your Music Ministry
  • Managers and Agents
  • The Importance of Artist Development
  • Publishing
  • Independent Record Labels
  • How to Obtain and/or Negotiate a Publishing Deal

Registration is $30 – General Admission and $20 – Student Admission (with a school id). Students will only be able to pay on-site.  Online registration and payment are available through an Eventbrite here.
